Kota Kinabalu: United Sabah Chinese Communities Association of Kota Kinabalu (USCCAKK) President Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen hopes the mighty tiger will chase Covid-19 away this Lunar New Year for lives to return to normalcy.
She said the Covid-19 pandemic has upended lives over the past two years and wearing face masks has become a norm.
“These unprecedented times have made us realise the importance of family and health.
“The virus has taught us to cherish family and friends around us,” she said in her Chinese New Year (CNY) message.
In the Year of the Tiger, Susan hopes the mighty animal would chase Covid-19 away for the people to return to healthy lives. She also hoped for peace and prosperity for Malaysia, as well as good health, vigour and vitality for the people.
“May the Year of the Tiger bring us a brighter future and good fortune.
“With no lockdown, business will grow again and the construction industry will revive and developers able to complete their projects,” she said.
For this year, the reputable developer of the WSG Group hoped Occupation Certificates (OCs) for two current construction of condominiums in Papar would be issued this year.
She said the work progress of Palm Condominium Tower of 140 units and Benoni Garden Tower B of 119 units in the district have reached the roofing stage, that is over 80 per cent in completion.
“I wish to get the O.C. for the 13-storey Palm Condominium in Kinarut by June this year and hand over the units to the house buyers.
“While for the Benoni Garden Tower B, I hope the O.C. will be issued in July,” Susan said.
As for construction of her new development project, Parkland City shoplots and Parkland Villa Saujana double-storey terrace house, she said were temporarily halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown from March 2020 until May 2021.
In June last year, she said the government allowed construction of the projects with half of the manpower or labourers which affected its schedule to complete them.
In November last year under the National Recovery Plan, Susan said her company was able to continue its construction with a full workforce and aim to complete the works by the end of 2022.
This year, she said, is time for her company to catch up with the construction works on her property and commercial development projects in Papar.
“I aim to get half of O.Cs for Phase 1 of Parkland City that has 88 units of commercial by the end of this year so that I can start Phase 2 of the same project, tentatively next year.
“I also have the same hope and target for Phase 1 of the Parkland Villa Saujana 180 units double-storey terrace houses. At least half of the O.C. would be issued to the owners’ end of this year,” Susan said. She is aspiring to launch the Parkland Condo by end of this year.
