Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s caseload remains high with 467 new cases recorded on Thursday, with more than 40 per cent comprising sporadic infections, said Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.He said Sandakan topped the list with 93 cases, followed by Kota Kinabalu (77), Penampang (71), Tuaran (44), Tawau (32) and Ranau (22).
“In Sandakan, 58 out of 93 (62.3 per cent) cases were sporadic infections, including 33 out of 77 (42.8 per cent) in Kota kInabalu as well as 42 out of 71 (59.1 per cent) in Penampang.
“Sporadic infections remain high with 232 out of 476 (42.8 per cent) cases being symptomatic, while close contacts only comprise 39.7 per cent of the caseload.
“Some 20 cases were contributed by seven clusters,” he said in a statement, Thursday, adding that no new deaths or clusters were recorded.
Masidi added that 12 districts recorded double-digit cases, while three districts did not record any new cases.
Of the caseload, he said 307 were fully vaccinated while 64 had gotten their booster dose, while 55 were ineligible for the vaccine and 50 were unvaccinated although eligible.
Masidi said 469 out of 467 cases were category one and two infections that do not require hospital treatment, while there are four cases in category three, two in category four and one in category five.
Some 260 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital while 1,004 patients are currently receiving treatment at hospitals, low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRCs), prisons/temporary detention centres and private facilities.
On Sabah’s immunisation programme, Masidi said 806 individuals were vaccinated on Feb 2, of which 789 were adults and 17 were teenagers.
He said as of Feb 1, a total of 2,410,387 individuals have completed both doses, of which 76.04 per cent were adults.
Masidi added that a total of 337,331 teenagers have received their first dose, while 312,932 have completed both doses, which is 72.10 per cent of the teenage population.
