Kota Kinabalu: A former company CEO was charged at the Special Corruption Court here Friday with two counts of abusing his authority by awarding contracts totalling RM2,589,079.32 to a company he partially owned.
Sulaiman Mohd Noor, 54, who appeared before Judge Abu Bakar Manat, pleaded not guilty to each charge against him.
On the first count, Sulaiman allegedly used his position as CEO of YBS Tenaga Sdn. Bhd. to appoint Syarikat Pemborong Tambun Jaya, in which he was a co-owner, to carry out mechanical and electrical work valued at RM2,275,115.92.
On the second count, Sulaiman was alleged to have also used his position by appointing the same company to carry out maintenance work on a road in Kg. Minitampak 3 valued at RM313,963.40.
