KENINGAU: Three blocks of 12-door workers’ houses (kongsi) of the Focus Lumber factory in Patikang Road, here, were destroyed by fire Monday morning.

Keningau Fire and Rescue Department Zone Chief Yuszaimi Hairrul Azwan Juatan said Keningau Fire and Rescue Station received a call at 8.32am and a team of 13 members led by Operations Officer Norhasrita Abdul Manan rushed to the location, about 6km from the station, with machinery.

He said upon arrival, the three blocks of houses had been burnt 100 per cent while another non-permanent workers’ house was saved.

“The extinguishing operation used two 200-foot streams with two fountains and water sources from the department’s tankers,” he said.
