Bersatu wants 30pc women
Candidates for next polls
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Srikandi movement has proposed four women as potential candidates in the 15th General Election (GE15). Its Chief Datuk Seri Azizah Mohd Dun said the names of the four had already been submitted to the party leadership at the state and national levels.

She said she has been voicing for at least 30 per cent women candidates for every general election.

“But sometimes we have to be realistic because there are certain places where we have potential candidates but if the seats belong to others, then we have no choice (but to let go). We cannot take seats belonging to others...we have to balance it.

Cosmobeauté Malaysia and beautyexpo will expand into East Malaysia with the launch of the Cosmobeauté Malaysia Borneo Festival 2026 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) from May 25 to 26.
“But, at least, we want to propose four potential candidates. They are new faces, much younger than me. But we cannot announce the names now. Their names have already been submitted to the state party leadership and Srikandi Malaysia,” she told reporters here when asked about candidates from Srikandi Sabah for GE15.

According to her, the four potential candidates are already well known at the grassroots level in the State but at the same time they still need to continue working hard for the people.

“All these candidates have potential and they are doing work on the ground so they can be accepted by the people. “Actually they are already well-known because they have been active on the ground,” she said.

Azizah, who is Beaufort Member of Parliament, also said she will defend the seat for Bersatu in the next general election.

“We must defend the seat (Beaufort). Anyone can say it is theirs, but people have also changed,” she said.

Azizah won the seat on the Barisan Nasional (BN) ticket in the GE14 before she joined Bersatu later, so the seat now belongs to Bersatu.
