28-year-old denies molesting girl
Kota Kinabalu: A 28-year-old man was charged with committing physical sexual harassment against a 16-year-old girl.

Julaspi Andan Pasan, a passport holder, pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus.

Julaspi is accused of committing the offence by rubbing his private part on the girl’s thigh between 3pm and 4pm on Dec 16, 2021 at a store in Pualau Banggi, Kudat.

The offence under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, carries a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.

The court set March 16 this year for pre-trial case management and ordered Julaspi to be remanded further pending the date.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Tham Pou Jin appeared for the prosecution while Julaspi was not represented.

Meanwhile, in the Magistrate’s Court, a 36-year-old man was jailed five months for threatening to cause hurt to his father.

Senior Assistant Registrar Tiong Wen Wen who sat as a Magistrate, handed the sentence to Valentine Sabastian who pleaded guilty.

Valentine had threatened his father Sabastian Philip, 68, at 9am on Jan 27 this year at Kg Tindai Kolopis, Penampang.

The court heard that Valentine had threatened to break his father’s head after becoming angry when his father was making noises while cutting the bamboo tree.

Fearing of his safety, the father then lodged a police report and Valentine was arrested.

Valentine was also charged with taking syabu but the chemist’s report on the drug is not ready yet and the court set March 30 for mention.

For the drug case, the court offered him bail of RM1,200 in two sureties.
