Kota Kinabalu: Parti Warisan Treasurer-General Terrence Siambun has lodged a police report over claims that its earlier Pas Sementara Sabah (PSS) was meant to offer citizenship to illegal immigrants.

According to Terrence, Warisan would pursue legal action against anyone who accuses the party of intending to exploit the PSS to award illegal immigrants citizenship.

“In this way, accusers will have the opportunity to substantiate their claims in court,” he said.

He was responding to Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan who was quoted as claiming that the PSS proposed by the then Warisan State Government intended to confer citizenship to illegals.

In his police report, Terrence claimed that the public record shows that on January 11 and 12, 2020, then-Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced in a news conference that illegal immigrants would not be eligible for citizenship through PSS.

Terrence said the question is whether Jeffrey is aware of a conspiracy to confer citizenship through PSS, and if he is, why did Muhyiddin deny that PSS will ever qualify anyone for citizenship?

“Right after the Kimanis By-Election, Jeffrey and Muhyiddin collaborated under the Sheraton Move backdoor government, but why was this conspiracy, as reported by Jeffrey, not uncovered despite the cancellation of PSS?” he said.

Terrence said citizenship is granted by the federal government, namely the Home Affairs Ministry, and not by the state government.

“It should also be noted that the Home Minister was to be in charge of PSS.  Muhyiddin also has a responsibility to tell the truth about PSS and refute Jeffrey’s allegations,” he said.
