Woman among 7 arrested for drugs in Sipitang
SIPITANG: Police arrested seven suspects, including a woman, for drugs on Thursday, said District Police Chief,  Champin Piuh.

He said the suspects committed offences under Section 12 (2) and 15 (1) (a) the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“In the first arrest recently at 11.30 am, police arrested two local men in their 20s at a house in Kg Petarikan Sindumin.

“Police found a small plastic bag containing crystal lumps, believed to be Syabu, weighing 0.07gm.

“One of them has already been convicted four times for drugs,” he said.

Champin said the second arrest was made at 3pm on Friday at a house in Kg Pelakat where the woman was tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine and will be investigated under Section 15 (1) (a) the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“Last Saturday at 6.30am, police arrested a foreigner in his 20s at Jalan Long Kinangan Sindumin. He is suspected to be an addict and  0.12gm of Syabu was also found with him and will be investigated under Section 12 (2) the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.

 Champin said they arrested a local man in his 50s at Jalan Samur Sindumin at 3pm on Tuesday and found two plastic packets containing 0.20gm of crystal lumps, suspected to be Syabu.

He said the suspect was positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine  and has six previous convictions. The case is being investigated under section 12 (2) the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

 “On Thursday, police arrested two men in their 50s and 40s at two different locations along Jalan Kg Muhibbah and Jalan Sipitang-Sindumin for possessing syabu weighing 0.08gm and 0.37gm respectively.

“Both of them would be investigated under Section 15 (1) (a) Of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Both weren convicted of drug offences in the past. “Suspects who have more than two previous convictions for drug offences would also be punished with imprisonment for five years under Section 39C of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.
