She also informed the court that the said products belonged to her friends whom she was holding onto for.
However, Prosecuting Officer Lim Lay Ping from the Pharmacy Department, urged the court to impose an appropriate sentence on the grounds that the Vitamin C injection products for beauty purpose were not approved by the Malaysia Health Ministry.
She said its because there is no scientific study to prove that vitamin C injections can brighten the skin.
On the other hand, long-term use of vitamin C injections can cause hormonal problems, skin, liver and kidney damage.
The seized products worth RM450, were in the form of vials or ampoules to be administered subcutaneously, intramuscularly or intravenously.
“Any injections can only be done by a qualified professional.
“Injections by untrained individuals can be dangerous for consumers, especially if the equipment used is not sterile and this can increase the risk of mumps and blood-borne diseases such as hepatitis and HIV,” said Lim.
