KOTA KINABALU: Another Covid-19 cluster involving an educational institute in Sabah has been detected.
The Kuala Tongod Cluster involved a hostel student of SMK Tongod, according to the State’s daily update, Tuesday.
“The index case for the cluster is an 18-year-old student who was detected through a symptomatic screening,” said the update.
Following that, contact screenings witnessed an increase of 67 cases. All cases had been isolated and treated, and non-symptomatic close contacts were also ordered to be quarantined.
Currently, there are 42 active clusters in the State.
Meanwhile, Sabah registered 4,406 additional cases, Tuesday, with 62.57 per cent of them being sporadic infections.
The top five districts with the highest number of new cases are Kota Kinabalu with 1,077, Penampang (515), Papar (451), Tuaran (402) and Tawau (211).
Some 4,377 or 99.34 per cent of the new cases are in Category 1 and 2, while eight in Category 3, 13 in Category 4 and eight in Category 5.
