Kota Kinabalu: A local man sought by police after allegedly killing his friend over a debt in a bush area at Jalan Kionsom Lama, Inanam, here, was arrested today.

The 43-year-old suspect, who allegedly strangled the male victim with a wire, was arrested at his rented house in Kg Bambangam, Inanam, at 11.20am.

City Police Chief ACP Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said the suspect, who worked as a vehicle painter, was found in possession of the victim's smartphone.

He said that upon his arrest, the suspect confessed that he was involved in the death of the 25-year-old victim, adding that investigation revealed the suspect had owed money to the victim.
