RANAU: Police here are confident of solving five housebreaking cases with the arrest of a 45-year-old suspect on Tuesday.
Ranau District Police Chief DSP Simiun Lomudin said they received several reports on housebreaking cases that occurred around the district, including in the town area, since early this month.
“Acting on information, we managed to locate the suspect’s hiding place - an unnumbered house believed rented by the suspect,” he said.
He said a Proton FLX car, believed used to commit the crimes, was also recovered.
“With the arrest of the suspect who has been remanded under Section 457 of the Penal Code for further investigations, we hope to be able to solve several burglary cases. “The cases were recently circulated on social media with pictures of a silver Proton FLX roaming suspiciously around the town area, causing public concerns,” he added.
Simiun said police would continue to intensify operations to combat crime in the district from time to time to ensure public order and safety.
