RANAU: Three people cheated death when the four-wheel-drive (4WD) they were travelling in collided with a delivery truck at Km 1, Jalan Ranau-Kundasang, near the Petronas station in Kg Kimolohing, Friday night.
Ranau Fire and Rescue Chief Ridwan Mohd Taib said the station received a call from the public about 10.39pm and deployed five personnel led by PBK II Mastin Suli along with an FRT engine and an EMRS van to the scene 2km away.
He said the three injured victims in the Mitsubishi Triton had already been sent to the Ranau Hospital in an ambulance when the firefighters arrived.
“All three victims were male and suffered light injuries while the truck driver escaped unscathed,” he said, adding the impact of the collision that occurred around 10.30pm caused both vehicles to crash to left side of the road shoulder and slightly missed an electrical pole.
