BEAUFORT: Villagers in Kampung Lingkungan Laut, here, are appealing to the government to repair or replace the dilapidated suspension bridge here.

Raman Mail, one of the villagers, said the bridge is too dangerous to be used.

“The bridge is already more than 20 years old and the wooden planks have
became more brittle and damaged,” he said.

“The cables on the bridge are also rusty and both poles are slanting.”

This situation, he said, is making it hard for villagers to go to the other side of the river.

“The bridge is important to connect the villagers and at the same time it is also used by school children.

“We are worried over their safety when they use the bridge,” he said.

To this end, he hopes Sipitang MP Yamani Hafez Musa and Lumadan assemblyman Ruslan Muharam would pay attention on the problems faced by the villagers.
