Kota Kinabalu: It is not possible for the so-called Sultan of Sulu’s successors-in-interest to issue a default award in international arbitration against Malaysia, as it did not appear as a party to the international arbitration proceedings, according to Sabah Law Society (SLS) President Roger Chin. He was commenting on the so-called Sultan’s successors-in-interest who are suing Malaysia over alleged unpaid royalties amounting to US$14.92 billion (RM62.59 billion), which included pre-award interest.
