RANAU: The community must continue to strictly abide by the set standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of Covid-19, said Ranau District Police Chief DSP Simiun Lomudin

He said compliance with SOPs must be practised at all times although some flexibility has been given by the Government to the public, especially business premises.

“Practices such as wearing a face mask, avoiding a crowded place and maintaining physical distancing are among things that are mandatory to prevent the spread of Covid-19,” he said while leading an operation around Ranau town and Kundasang to monitor SOP compliance, Wednesday.

Simiun also advised all business and tourism operators to ensure that the MySejahtera scan code, customer notebook, hand sanitiser and a temperature scanner machine are available at their premises.

Noting an increase in Covid-19 cases in the district lately, he said the police would make regular visits to business and tourism premises to ensure the regulations are complied with and that they would not hesitate to compound those who failed to do so.

Accompanying Simiun during the “Blue Op” were several senior officers who also gave advice on crime prevention, especially robbery and burglary.
