Sabah may lose banteng next, warns WWF
The banteng population has declined, as their habitat have shrunk over the years.
Kota Kinabalu: If conservation measures are not heightened, it is highly likely that the banteng – the most critically endangered large Pleistocene mammal species in the world – will be the next species to go extinct, said WWF-Malaysia.

Endemic to Borneo, WWF-Malaysia said, the Bornean banteng is classified as “Endangered” under the IUCN Red List.
