Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Under-19 team manager Jamawi Jaafar hoped the 1-0 home win over Kuching FC in the Youth Cup tie at Penampang Stadium, Friday, will kick start their season.

It was the team’s first win in the competition following their goalless draw with PDRM in the season opener last Wednesday, and the only goal in the match was scored by Mohd Ekhwandy in the 63rd minute.

“I believe this victory will boost the confidence of the players and they will search for more victories in the coming matches.

“There is still room for improvement but I am confident that the players will continue to improve under the guidance of head coach Johnny Dominicus and his staff,” he said.
