Kuala Lumpur: The Covid-19 vaccination for children aged five to 11 is very important, particularly as the country is set to begin the transition to the endemic phase on April 1, the health ministry said today.

In a post on its official Facebook account, the ministry said children are now more at risk of getting infected with Covid-19.

“This is because children aged 11 and below have not received proper protection compared with the older age groups who have been vaccinated.

“The admission rate of children to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit wards due to Covid-19 has increased by 94% for Categories 3 to 5 on the whole. However, Category 4 itself has increased by 200%, while Category 5 by 125%,” the ministry said.
