Sabah is lagging behind with 19.5pc poverty rate

SANDAKAN: Minister in Prime Minister Department (Economy) Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed admitted that Sabah is lagging behind with a poverty rate of 19.5pc as compared to national average of 5.6pc and a GDP per capita of RM5,745 as compare to the national average of RM7,901.Stating this in response to a question by Sandakan Member of Parliament Vivian Wong, Mustapa said under the 2nd rolling plan, the Government has embarked on 1,048 projects in Sabah, including Pan Borneo Highway Project, Sandakan Sewerage Scheme II and the expansion of Sandakan Airport Runway.
