RM2bil solar glass project at KKIP sealed

Kota Kinabalu: Another mega investment to the tune of RM2 billion, by SBH Kibing Solar New Materials (M) Sdn Bhd, will make the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) its home.

Deputy Chief Minister-cum-Industrial Development Minister Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam said the investment is to process silica that will be mined from Sikuati, Kudat into solar glass with the capacity of less than 2,400 metric tonnes per day.

“The investment value is RM 2.0 billion and the estimated job creation is 1,800 for the solar glass manufacturing plant in KKIP and another 300 jobs for the silica sand processing plant in Sikuati,” he said at the lease agreement signing ceremony between KKIP and SBH, here, Thursday.

“The solar glass manufacturing plant will be located on 130.4 acres of land at Industrial Zone 7 Phase 2, KKIP.”
