Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s cases rose slightly to 769 on Thursday, with 60 per cent being sporadic infections, said Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
“Although Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Tuaran recorded a decrease in cases, it is not able to negate the increase of cases in other districts.
“Usually these three districts will determine the rise and fall of Sabah’s daily caseload.
“Instead, the rise in districts such as Papar (+28), Beaufort (+10), Kota Belud (+17), Tambunan (+10), Keningau (+9), Putatan (+9) have contributed to the increase of cases in Sabah,” he said in a statement, Thursday.
Masidi said Kota Kinabalu topped the list with 175 cases, followed by Penampang (66), Tuaran (64), Papar (60), Beaufort (57), Tawau (48) and Kota Belud (33).
Six deaths were recorded, one each in Penampang, Tuaran, Pitas, Keningau, Beaufort and Tambunan, while no new clusters were identified.
The majority of cases are mild, with 754 out of 769 cases being category one and two infections which is 98.05 per cent.
“Five cases are in category three, four in category four and six in category five,” Masidi added.
Some 999 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital while 741 patients are currently receiving treatment at hospitals, low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRCs), prisons/temporary detention centres and private facilities.
On Sabah’s immunisation programme, Masidi said 8,844 individuals were vaccinated on March 16, of which 7,423 were adults while 105 were teenagers and 1,316 were children.
As of March 16, he said a total of 2,404,595 individuals have completed both doses, of which 76.88 per cent were adults, while 2,547,007 have gotten their first dose, of which 78.43 per cent were adults.
Masidi added that a total of 332,103 teenagers have received their first dose, while 316,118 have completed both doses, which is 77.92 per cent of the teenage population.
