Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s cases dipped to 596 on Friday, with 21 out of 27 districts in the State recording a decrease in cases.
Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, however, cautioned that sporadic infections still remained high at 66 per cent.
He said Kota Kinabalu topped the list with 148 cases, followed by Penampang (70), Papar (59), Beaufort (51), Tuaran (47), Tawau (29), Putatan (24) and Tenom (18).
“Except for Penampang, districts such as Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Beaufort and Putatan saw a decline in cases.
“Five districts saw a marginal increase, while Semporna and Kunak did not record any new cases,” he said in a statement, Friday.
Masidi said the State did not record any deaths and no new clusters were identified, while two clusters were declared closed, namely the Jalan Apas Batu Lima Cluster in Tawau and Loboh Nabawan Cluster in Nabawan.
“There are 19 active clusters in Sabah to date,” he added.
The majority of cases are mild, with 581 out of 596 cases being category one and two infections.
“Five cases are in category three and 10 cases are in category four. No category five infections were recorded,” Masidi added.
Some 972 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital while 695 patients are currently receiving treatment at hospitals, low risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRCs), prisons/temporary detention centres and private facilities.
On Sabah’s immunisation programme, Masidi said 8,384 individuals were vaccinated on March 17, of which 6,951 were adults while 98 were teenagers and 1,355 were children.
As of Mar 17, he said a total of 2,404,950 individuals have completed both doses, of which 76.89 per cent were adults, while 2,548,686 have gotten their first dose, of which 78.44 per cent were adults.
Masidi added that a total of 332,152 teenagers have received their first dose, while 316,167 have completed both doses, which is 74.18 per cent of the teenage population. A total of 85,498 children have received their first dose.
