Soliciting for prostitution: Woman, 19, pleads guilty
Kota Kinabalu: A 19-year-old woman pleaded guilty at the Magistrate’s Court here, Monday, to soliciting for prostitution.

Zahratul Rosalinda Mohamad admitted before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to committing the offence with a 33-year-old man at 11.30pm on Feb 2 this year at an apartment unit in the city centre.

However, Lovely adjourned the case to April 6 while waiting for Zahratul’s social report to be prepared.

The charge, under Section 372B of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to one year or a fine or both, on conviction.

Earlier, the prosecution told the court that a police team raided the said unit in an OPs Noda and found Zahratul in a room with a man and that Zahratul confessed to charging the man RM350 for the service.

The court also heard that Zahratul got clients through a middle person, who would get RM50 as commission. Zahratul was reportedly involved in the said activity since November last year.

Pending the date, Zahratul was ordered to be remanded further as she failed to furnish the bail of RM1,500 in one surety offered to her when her case was first mentioned via zoom on Feb 9.

She was not represented.

In another case, a self-employed claimed trial to assaulting a man.

Pang Kwong Lin, 47, was accused of slapping and punching one Rahman Mohamad at 11.40pm on Dec 12, 2021 at Taman Millenium Heights, Penampang.

Pang was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to a year or fine of up to RM2,000, or both, on conviction.

Inspector Kelvan Elson Maik applied for a case management date.

Counsel Lim Ming Zoong @ Lawrence, representing Pang, informed the court that he was on court bail.

The court fixed April 19 for case management and released Pang on an extended bail.
