Kota Kinabalu: The State Youth and Sports Ministry is in the process of providing a sports complex for each district in Sabah.
Its Assistant Minister Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy said, he hopes the facilities will be used well by the people.
He was responding to a supplementary question by Inanam assemblyman Peto Galim, at the State Legislative Assembly sitting, here, Wednesday.
To another supplementary question by Luyang assemblyman Phoong Jin Zhe, Andi said the Ministry used its limited allocation to maintain or build new facilities based on priorities.
Earlier, in Peto’s original question, Andi said there are 16 sports complexes in the State – one each in Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau, Keningau, Penampang, Kota Belud, Tenom, Tambunan, Beaufort, Sipitang, Ranau, Beluran, Lahad Datu, Kudat, Nabawan and Semporna.
“These facilities can be used by the people with minimal charges. However, some can be accessed for free, such as the jogging track, cycling lane, hiking spots, and extreme sport arenas, among others,” he said.
