TAWAU: A police prosecuting officer was sentenced to 10 days’ jail and fined RM15,000 by the Special Corruption Court here for soliciting RM3,000 from an accused’s family member, six years ago.Inspector Zakariah Kirinu, 40, pleaded guilty before Judge Abu Bakar Manat to asking RM3,000 from one Mohd Akhbar Azis in return for purportedly helping Akhbar to propose bail on a firearm case and to drop his father’s samurai sword case.
