9-year-old killed in Lahad Datu fire

LAHAD DATU: A nine-year-old boy was killed in a fire that destroyed two houses in Kampung Tanjung Labian, Sungai Bilis, here, Sunday.The youngster, Abu Bakar Ash Siddiq Rajesh, was napping when the fire broke out at 11 am.

Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Sumsoa Rashid said his department received a distress call at 11.05am via MERS999. Firefighters hurried to the scene, which was 120 kilometres away, according to Sumsoa.

The Felda Sahabat Fire and Rescue Volunteer team, which arrived at 12.43pm, was also on hand to help.
