RTM has been urged to increase Sabah-related programmes to help the Government attract more tourists to Sabah.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor said programmes, including that related to culture and ethnicity, could help promote Sabah, especially with the reopening of the country’s borders starting April 1.

As a relevant broadcaster, he said, RTM plays an important role in helping the Government’s efforts to attract more tourists to the State.

“I hope more programmes related to Sabah, including on culture and ethnicity, are broadcast or its contents improved. This is because such programmes are not only still relevant, but can also help promote the culture of multiracial people through RTM’s radio or television channels,” he said.

Cosmobeauté Malaysia and beautyexpo will expand into East Malaysia with the launch of the Cosmobeauté Malaysia Borneo Festival 2026 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) from May 25 to 26.
He was officiating the State-level 76th RTM Day celebration at the Integrated Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia (K-Komm), Kota Kinabalu, April 1.

The Chief Minister said the State Government welcomed RTM’s efforts and commitment to strengthen its ability to broadcast programme contents in various languages, such as English, Chinese and even the Kadazan, Dusun, Murut, West Coast Bajau and East Coast Bajau ethnic languages.

“We are confident that the empowerment of the ethnic languages, especially in Sabah, can ensure a clearer and more effective delivery of information to the multiracial community in the State,” said Hajiji.

According to him, RTM is no stranger to this country and is even known around the world, especially in the neighbouring countries, because its role as the official broadcaster of the Malaysian Government has passed through the ages since its inception.

“Even at 76, RTM continues to be enthusiastic, increasingly active in creating more progress, including broadcasting through digital media platforms, whether Internet or mobile applications.

“Therefore, it is not surprising that RTM radio stations and television channels can also now be heard and watched by the public through digital media such as rtmklik and other social media platforms,” he added.

Hajiji is confident that RTM’s efforts to establish strategic cooperation with the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) through the establishment of the RTM Civil Defence Force Emergency Response Team (CDERT) nationwide can further enhance the effectiveness in delivering up-to-date information to the public, especially during disaster and emergency situations.

He said RTM will also implement the RTM Malaysia Family Tour Programme, consisting of the Ramadan Tour, the Syawal Celebration Tour and the Kami Prihatin Tour from April to June, as part of social responsibility towards the community, especially the less fortunate.

“The State Government would also like to thank all RTM Sabah staff who have continued to work hard to provide information on the Covid-19 pandemic to the people, through various forms of broadcasting mediums, whether radio or television, for more than two years,” he said.

Congratulating all RTM staff for the 76th RTM Day celebration and for the establishment of RTM Sabah CDERT, Hajiji hopes RTM will continue to be the national broadcasting agency through the broadcasting of high quality programmes in line with the celebration theme of “Terus Unggul.”
