KOTA BELUD: The quick action of firemen saved several houses at Jalan Jabatan Kerja Raya from being gutted, Tuesday.

However, a fire which started at a house was destroyed 25 per cent in the 8.30am incident. No casualties were reported.

According to Chief of the Kota Belud District Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), Muhammad Syazwan Latun, upon receiving an emergency call at 8.32am, nine personnel rushed to the location, along with a machine and a utility vehicle from the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS).

“The team carried out operation in the kitchen area before successfully controlling the fire 20 minutes later.

“The fire was put out before it spread to other rooms and several houses nearby,” he said, Wednesday.

The cause of the incident and the estimated loss are still under investigation.
