Kota Kinabalu: An Unduk Ngadau contestant broke down emotionally while testifying today against a former politician accused of molesting her, causing her testimony to be postponed to May 19.
The alleged victim became emotional when she was asked about what happened between her and Philip Among, the accused, while she was in Philip’s office in Metro Town on the day of the alleged crime.
She could not continue her words, resulting in Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Hajar Mazlan asking for a standdown for a few minutes.
The alleged victim bawled as she left the courtroom, and her cry could be heard from outside the witness room.
Looking at the situation, Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie then called all the parties and ordered the prosecution to apply for the alleged victim to testify in the witness room, to which Siti Hajar said she would.
But Siti Hajar also informed the court that the alleged victim could not continue to testify and asked for the day's proceeding to be ended early.
