No hope for Labuan if privileges not returned
LABUAN: The local economy, which has been badly bruised since early 2020, will likely remain in the doldrums unless the island’s lost privileges are restored, says the Labuan Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LICCI).

Its Chairman Datuk Dahlif Singh said the local tourism industry is still struggling and so are other sectors despite the transition to the endemic stage of Covid-19, with the country’s borders opened since April 1.

He was referring to the withdrawal of tax-free cigarettes and the continued “no-go” for the entertainment industry though the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for other sectors had been eased.
