Kota Kinabalu: An unemployed Filipino charged with trafficking 59.14gm of syabu will go on trial in March next year.
High Court Judicial Commissioner Leonard David Shim fixed March 28-31 for the trial of Mohd Gammar Gani during mention of his case Thursday.
Gammar, 32, allegedly committed the offence at 10.30am on July 8, 2021 at the roadside, behind the KFC premises in Sipitang.
He had on March 24, this year, claimed trial to the charge under Section 39B (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952.
The charge carries a punishment of either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes, on conviction.
The court ordered him to be remanded further as the charge against him has no provision for bail.
