Threatening to hurt mum: Man jailed and fined
Kota Kinabalu: A 26-year-old man who threatened to hurt his mother with a knife was jailed six months and fined RM2,000 or four months’ jail.

Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles meted out the sentence to Chua Chi Kiang who pleaded guilty to the charge against him on Tuesday.

Chua had threatened to cause hurt to his 57-year-old mother with the knife at 9.30pm on April 20 this year at a house in Kg Hungab in Jalan Boon Kondudungan Ganang, Penampang.

The offence, under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to two years or fine or both, on conviction.

The court ordered Chua to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest on April 21 this year.

Chua had threatened her with the knife and left her fearing for her safety.

The mother then ran away to her neighbour’s house and lodged a police report against Chua.

Meanwhile, a 37-year-old man was fined and ordered to perform community service for committing mischief against the properties belonging to two men.

Christopher Roger Conrad pleaded guilty to two charges against him. On the first charge, Christopher was fined RM5,000 or eight month’s jail for committing mischief by punching the car door belonging to Keflley Anthony at 10.30pm on April 20 in Kg Ramayah Tadau, Penampang.

On the second charge, he was ordered to perform community service for three months or 12 months’ jail for kicking the door of a house which belonged to Ingu@Leo Peter at 10.55pm on April 20 this year at the same place.

The court ordered Christopher to perform the community service four hours per day.

The court heard that during the incident, Christopher was under the influence of alcohol when the incidents occurred.
