KOTA KINABALU: The State Kaamatan Festival will resume physical celebration this year after two years of being held as a hybrid event, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, in a press conference, Thursday.
Themed “Kaamatan Ensouls Nature”, the RM1.5 million event hopes to display the uniqueness of the community in Sabah to the outside world thus regenerating the tourism and agriculture industries in the State.
Jeffrey who is also the State Kaamatan Main Organising Chairman said, the organisers at the State and district level are required to ensure the set standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection.
This year’s Kaamatan Festival will be celebrated in all districts and several Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA) branches, as well as by Sabahans abroad, such as in New Zealand, Australia and the US.
