Tuaran: A 24-year-old was trapped in his Proton Iswara for about 40 minutes after it crashed into the fence of a house on Jalan Tamparuli-Tuaran, near the Telibong petrol kiosk, last Saturday.Following the 7.50pm incident, the man was found unconscious in the vehicle and rescued by firemen.   Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station Chief Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar said his department received an emergency call at 7.51pm.

He said 10 firefighters were deployed to the scene and found the unconscious man trapped in the driver’s seat.

To help the man out of the vehicle, the team had to use specialised equipment.

“The team was able to assist the victim at 8.30pm before sending him to the Tuaran Hospital for treatment,” said Qawie, adding the operation ended at 9pm.

Acting Tuaran District Police Chief ASP Raji Hussin Suhodin said the man was believed to have lost control of his vehicle, causing it to crash into a water pipe on the roadside before ramming a house’s fence. “Investigations are still underway. The victim is currently being treated at the Tuaran Hospital,” he said.
