Kota Kinabalu: The beach cleaning at Likas Bay by KK-Plastic Neutral Love Clean KK took place last Saturday involving some of the most committed hard core groups and schools.Despite torrential rain, 77 passionate beach cleaners collected a total of 764kg of mixed plastic waste either washed up on the shore or buried deep into the sand.
Unlike other beach cleans, this brainchild of Blu Hope in collaboration with Tropical Research and Conservation Centre (TRACC) is a new type of ‘quantitative/qualitative’ beach clean serves to gather specific data as no one knows how massive the problem actually is and how it has to be dealt with.
