Tuaran: Two vehicles were damaged after being hit by a tree in Taman Sri Rugading, here, Saturday, due to heavy rain and strong winds that swept through the district.

However, no victims were reported injured in the incident at 1.50pm.

Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station chief, Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar said his department received an emergency call at 1.54pm.

Five firefighters went to the scene, he added. “As soon as the team arrived they found the two damaged vehicles parked beside the building block.

“Using specialised equipment, the team cut and remove the fallen trees,” he said.

The operation ended around 2.20pm, according to Abdul Qawie, after the team made sure there were no more risks in the area.

Meanwhile, Tuaran Civil Defence Force Officer Paulina Francis said they had received four reports of fallen trees in various places. “We received reports of trees falling between 2.45pm and 6.30pm as a result of the rain and strong winds.

“There were no injuries recorded, but residents were encouraged to take precautionary measures by staying indoors during the strong winds,” she said.
