SANDAKAN: Member of Parliament for Sandakan, Vivian Wong, hoped an Australian University will be set up here one day.
An Australian alumni, she also hoped for better relations between Sandakan and Australia.
Earlier, she attended a lunch hosted by Australia Deputy High Commissioner Hannah Birdsey, who was in town to attend the Anzac Day Memorial Service at the Sandakan Memorial Park.
Also present were Datuk Andrew Sim, Honorary Consul of Australia to Sabah, and Joachim Babo, First Secretary.
While welcoming the Australian delegates to Sandakan again after two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Vivian also highlighted the special historical bond between Sandakan and Australia.
“In fact, establishing a sister city pact with an Australian city will be a good way moving forward to further enhance our ties,” she said.
