SIPITANG: The Public Works Department (JKR) and the concession company have been urged to reconstruct the concrete bridge in Kampung Mendulong that was destroyed by floods last year.

Sindumin Community Development Leader (PPM) Sani Miasin said the bridge that crosses Sungai Muaya was destroyed by strong currents during the floods.

He said the locals used the bridge to transfer agriculture goods and send their children to school, especially those who live across the river from the Sabah Rubber Industry Board (LIGS) housing.

According to him, the locals have struggled without the bridge because the road is rather far, roughly 15km away and passes through multiple villages.
