PENAMPANG: A total of 16 summonses were issued during the “Op Mabuk” roadblock at Jalan Kota Kinabalu-Penampang near SMK Bahang, here, early Saturday.
Penampang Police Chief Deputy Supt Mohd Haris Ibrahim said the operation was carried out by the Penampang Traffic Investigation & Enforcement Division (BSPT).
“It intends to restart Op Mabuk as a continuation of Op Selamat 18, which focuses on road law enforcement and efforts to reduce the number of road accidents.
“A total of 51 individual were checked, and three men were arrested and taken to the Penampang District Police Headquarters (IPD) for driving while under the influence of alcohol in excess of the allowed limit.”
If found guilty, they can be charged under Section 45A (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Amendment) 2020, which carries a fine of not less than RM10,000 and not more than RM30,000, as well as imprisonment for not more than two years.
