‘Only GRS government really pursuing 40pc revenue’
Kota Kinabalu: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah-Barisan Nasional (GRS-BN) State Government is the only government in Sabah’s political history to show great determination and truly take action to resolve the 40 per cent revenue sharing formula issue and should be supported by all.Kuamut Assemblyman (Independent) Datuk Masiung Banah (pic) said the matter should have been resolved by the previous state governments but they failed.

“It is repeated by political parties, especially when election nears, but nothing is done.
“Finally, we see the present Sabah Government under the leadership of Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor showing great determination and taking action to resolve it. Maybe with our Chief Minister’s cool personality, we can continue negotiations on this issue with the Federal Government.

“We should give the State Government a chance with court as the last option,” he said.

Masiung was commenting State Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun who is leading the Sabah delegation in the negotiation on the State’s demand for the Federal Government to return 40 per cent revenue derived from Sabah as agreed in the Malaysia Agreement (MA63).

“The Constitution itself provides for an independent assessor and that is one of the options that we can look into if negotiations fail after reasonable time,” he said. Earlier, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili said the time has come for Sabah to bring the issue of the non-implementation of the 40 per cent revenue entitlement to Putrajaya.
