NABAWAN: The Nabawan District Kaamatan Festival will take place on May 13 to 14 at the Nabawan District Council Open Stage here.
The opening ceremony is expected to be officiated by the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Jeffrey Kitingan.
District Officer Peter Jonu Moinjil stated this while chairing the District Level Kaamatan Implementation Committee Meeting at the District Office here recently.
Peter who is also the Chairman of the Festival Committee, said the festival will start on the evening of May 13 with the Sugandoi final Competition.
“Among the activities that will be held on May 14 include an exhibition of agricultural products, fisheries and handicrafts, Mr. Kaamatan, Tokoh Peladang Presentation, lucky draw, singing performance, cultural performance, Unduk Ngadau and others, ”he said.
The public is invited to come and witness various interesting events in conjunction with the festival themed “Kaamatan Menjiwai Alam Semulajadi.”
Also present at the meeting were Pagalungan Assistant District Officer, Peter Jiton, Assistant District Officer(Development), Francis Stephen, Assistant District Officer (Administration), Ali Khazrai Pandin Ali Udin, District Chief, Ulin Pamiang, Sub-Committee Chairmen, heads of Federal and State departments and agencies.
