KENINGAU: The body of a 16-year-old boy who was reported missing while bathing in the Pegalan River at Kampung Baru Durok, here, four days ago was found in a river area at Kampung Labi Gadung Beaufort, on Tuesday.
The body was found 98km from where the victim was reported missing.
The victim, whose identity was confirmed by family members on Wednesday, was handed over to the police for further action.
According to the Sabah Operations Centre, no search and rescue (SAR) operation was conducted on the fifth day (Wednesday) as the Keningau Fire and Rescue Department received information from Beaufort police station that the victim was found by members of the public at 3.50pm on Tuesday.
Earlier, on the first to fourth days, security forces personnel and the public conducted a SAR operation, assisted various agencies and the K-9 unit.
In TENOM, a 10-year-old boy who was feared missing in the Kampung Undusan oil palm plantation area was found by firefighters at a friend’s house in a safe condition.
The control room of the District Fire and Rescue Station received a call at 2.19pm on Wednesday and a total of nine members led by Operations Officer Hardiyanto Kampret went to the location with machinery.
He said the child was found at 3.42pm by firefighters at his friend’s house.
