Homemade rifles: Four nabbed

KINABATANGAN: Four local men were arrested on Saturday in two separate locations for having homemade rifles and ammunitions.District Police Chief Supt Dzulbaharin Ismail said, Sunday, the suspects, aged 28 and 31, were suspected of carrying out illegal hunting activities in the forest reserves in Tongod.  “The first arrest came when a patrolling team from the Sabah Forestry Department detained a man who was in the Maliau Basin Forest Reserve in Tongod.

“The man was found with a homemade rifle and 10 bullets,” he said, adding that the man is suspected to be carrying out illegal hunting activities.
The second arrest took place at Gunung Tinkar Forest Reserve in Tongod by the Department’s Special Enforcement team who spotted a suspicious four-wheel-drive.
