KENINGAU: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) Deputy President Datuk Robert Tawik @ Nordin urged the State Government to implement the proposed Sabah Identity Card (IC) for Sabahans.
“This is the struggle of Star since long ago and I fully support the issuance of the Sabah IC to the natives of Sabah,” he said.
Robert, who is also Works Assistant Minister and Bingkor Assemblyman, said this after flagging off the Sabah IC Promotion Tour Convoy in Bingkor town, near here.
Meanwhile, convoy chief Jamain Sarudin said the Sabah IC Tour Convoy started in Kota Kinabalu and stopped in several districts such as Penampang, Papar, Beaufort, Tenom and then to Bingkor, Tambunan and Liawan before continuing the tour to Tawau for the final destination.
He said the tour aims to realise the hopes of the people of Sabah who want the Sabah IC implemented.
“Our hope is that Sabah IC can be implemented by the State Government to differentiate the natives of Sabah from those who were given the famous IC project in the 1980s,” he said.
According to Jamain, the implementation of Sabah IC can protect the rights and interests of indigenous people in the State.
