Kota Kinabalu: British High Commissioner to Malaysia, Charles Hay, was enthusiastic about his visit to Sabah to inspect a rural electrification project that UK Pact (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) is working on with local NGO Forever Sabah at Kampung Buayan Kobulu involving a micro hydro project recently.UK Pact is a unique capacity-building programme funded by the UK Government’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) through the UK’s International Climate Finance, and some 2.8 million pounds sterling (>RM15,520,000) were allocated for a few projects in West and East Malaysia from Terengganu to Johor and Sarawak, aside from Sabah.
“This is one of the major reasons why I am here, to look at one of the projects we have here with Forever Sabah to bring electricity to rural areas of Sabah that are needed.
