Maid’s murder: Couple’s forensic reports pending

Kota Kinabalu: The forensic and DNA reports in the case of a husband and wife, charged with killing their maid who was a MyKad holder, are still pending.Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun set July 5 for mention of the case of former Masterchef Malaysia Finalist Etiqah Siti Noorashikeen Mohd Sulong, 33, and her contractor husband Mohammad Ambree Yunos @ Unos, 40.

The case was brought up on Tuesday for pre-trial case management.
The couple is accused of murdering one Nur Afiyah Daeng Damin, between Dec 10 and 13, 2021 at a unit of Amber Tower, Lido Avenue, Jalan Lintas Lido, Penampang.
The charge, under Section 302 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 34 of the same Code, carries the death sentence on conviction.
So far, no plea was taken from them as their plea would only be taken once their case was transferred to the High Court.

On April 26, Etiqah was released on a bail of RM30,000 with several conditions by the Court Of Appeal but her husband is still under remand.
Inspector Suzie Kupit appeared for the prosecution while counsel Ram Singh defended Mohammad Ambree and his wife was represented by counsel Dato Rakhbir Singh.
