LABUAN: The Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce (LCCC) says the new quit rent rate on certain properties reflected a “quantum leap” and surely a burden to many in view of the island’s prevailing economic situation.

Its Chairman Datuk Wong Kii Yii said he discussed the matter with the Land Office for a solution following rampant complaints.

“I have been told that the Land Office is aware of the complaints due to the adjustments made on the rate and has appealed to Putrajaya for a discount,” he said.
