Kota Kinabalu: The High Court set July 12 for further case management on the case of a 28-year-old man charged with trafficking drugs.
Judicial Commissioner Amelati Parnell set the date for Mohd Sahril Saharuddin pending the status of plea bargaining. The court was informed that the defence would submit plea bargaining for the case.
On Jan 25 this year, Sahril is accused of trafficking 477gm of cannabis at 8.40am on July 21, 2021, in front of the Nationwide Express Courier Services Sdn Bhd office, Block C, HS Commercial Centre in Penampang.
The offence under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952 which carries a punishment with either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes.
Pending the date, Shahril was ordered remanded further as the charge against him has no provision for bail.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Azreen Yas Mohamad Ramli appeared for the prosecution while Shahril was represented by counsel PJ Perira.
