Kota Kinabalu: Sabah China Chambers of Commerce Women Entrepreneur Committee (SCCCWE) paid a courtesy call to the Institute for Development Studies (Sabah) at Wisma IDS on 18th May 2022.

IDS Chairperson, Datuk Adeline Leong welcomed the SCCCWE delegates led by Mdm. Tan Siew Ling, Chairlady.

Mdm Tan Siew Ling expressed that the visit was to outline a possible collaboration with IDS in expanding SCCCWE links and networks towards the Asean region in promoting Sabah’s women entrepreneurs.

According to Mdm. Tan, the Covid-19 pandemic has changed the bilateral relationship between Sabah and China significantly, hence a need to shift the focus to the State’s neighbouring region.

Datuk Adeline welcomed the delegation’s interests in future collaborations, highlighting the importance of establishing a close relation with the Asean region with the preparations of Indonesia’s capital move to Kalimantan.

“It is in Sabah’s best interest for us to strategise and build our networks in order to anticipate the economic growth brought on by Indonesia’s capital move,” she further elaborated.

Food security and digital marketing was also discussed during the meeting.
